About me

My name is Fabiana Perrogón Fernández de Córdova, and I’m originally from Bolivia. I started the Master in Architecture program in September 2023, and my final project focuses on reconnecting producers and consumers and reducing the distance from farm to table. It was hard initially, not being used to a new city. I was also nervous about presenting a project that had only started a few weeks previously. But in the end, it was really rewarding, and I got a lot of support and guidance from UNStudio.

“My project is related to the food-related problems that many cities are facing nowadays. I want to really rethink the connection that is lost between the producers and the consumers.”

Fabiana Perrogon Fernandez De Cordova, a driven Master in Architecture student at IE University, decided to focus her final project on addressing food-related challenges in urban settings. Her objective was to reestablish the connection between producers and consumers, recognizing the long distances food travels before reaching plates in the city. She also aims to raise awareness among city residents about the origins and journey of the food they’re consuming.

Her final project revolves around the existing scheme of an architectural plan devised by UNStudio. One hurdle she faced was adapting her project idea to the pre-existing master plan, unlike many of her peers who decided to make their own changes to the existing version. Her decision to integrate her building design into an existing plan presented difficulties at the beginning, but ultimately allowed her to make a distinctive architectural statement within the park that features prominently in the scheme.

Transitioning into her Amsterdam experience, Fabiana initially grappled with nerves and was apprehensive in the early stages. However, with each passing week and the progress she was making, she embraced the process more. Invaluable feedback from the “very supportive” UNStudio team was a big help, particularly their advice on storytelling skills. With their demonstrations of their own projects, Fabiana gained invaluable and end-to-end insights into the entire architectural process. So UNStudio checking in regularly to see how the project was going was most welcome.

“Through these weeks, we have made a lot of progress. So I think it was important to receive the feedback from them to keep growing.”

Looking back on her journey so far, Fabiana credits her newfound proficiency in architectural storytelling to IE University’s nurturing environment. She explains how the Master in Architecture program goes beyond the basics, providing students not only with technical expertise but also the ability to craft compelling narratives, which is an essential tool for making a real impact.

As she continues to navigate the intricacies of architectural innovation, Fabiana remains committed to making meaningful change in urban environments. With each project, she is shaping physical spaces and fostering a connection between humanity and the environment, an ethos deeply rooted in IE University’s values. Through her unwavering dedication and innovative spirit, Fabiana has grown not only as a student but also as a person, and IE University has given her the tools, resources and knowledge to help her grow in her role.. She is set to finish her master’s program with the necessary skills to reshape the architectural landscape for generations to come.
