IE Business School’s International MBA ranked No. 8 in the world by Financial Times

IE Business School’s International MBA program holds the No. 8 position worldwide, as well as being No. 4 in Europe and No. 1 in Spain, in the FT’s 2017 ranking of MBA programs.

IE Business School has climbed four places from the No. 12 position it held in the 2016 edition of the ranking. This recognition further consolidates IE’s position as a world leader in education, following its success in other recent rankings that recognize IE as the best business school in the world for online MBA programs (Financial Times, March 2016), 3rd in the world for Master in Finance programs (Financial Times, June 2016), and 4th in Europe in the ranking of European business schools (Financial Times, December 2016).

This particular Financial Times ranking evaluated 21 quality indicators of both the School and program graduates. These indicators include the international focus of the school and its programs, the extent to which students’ expectations are met, increases in salary in the years following their graduation, the percentage of international professors and students, and the percentage of women among faculty and the student body, as well as levels of research at the school.

“This result reflects the quality of our MBA program,” says Erik Schlie, Vice Dean of IE’s International MBA.  “It’s an extraordinary program with a student body made up of participants from almost 80 countries. IE’s International MBA provides students with a learning ecosystem driven by technology. Students can design a customized program for themselves, with a special focus on entrepreneurialism or on transforming business organizations, depending on their profile and career plans. Moreover, throughout the IMBA program they can choose from over 150 elective courses, take part in exchange programs with over 50 business schools around the world, develop international consulting projects, and develop initiatives centered on humanities in order to broaden their vision and provide a response to the challenges generated by a world in transformation.”

IE Business School’s International MBA has a student body comprised of 92% international students. This year’s intake has students from 74 countries with an average of 6 years’ relevant work experience. The one-year program is available in English and Spanish, and its design permits students to craft a customized program for themselves based on their specific interests and career plans. Students can opt to do the “Creators” track, centered on entrepreneurialism, or the “Transformers track,” if they want to map a career path as directors in the corporate world. Moreover they can choose from among over 150 elective courses to further personalize the learning experience, as well as undertake consulting projects or work on social initiatives in South Africa, Ethiopia, Peru or Brazil.

IE Business School International MBA students can participate in the Post-MBA Long Exchange Program, a three-month exchange program which permits them to choose a destination from  among 58 partner schools around the world, including Chicago Booth (US), NYU Stern (US), GIBS-Gordon Institute of Business Science (South Africa), London Business School (UK), and Tsinghua (China). They also have the opportunity to further extend their networks at the Global Network Week, travel with IE’s Venture Lab initiative to examine entrepreneurial ecosystems  in other countries, or present their own business projects at Venture Day events held by IE in cities that include Shanghai, Sao Paulo, Mexico D.F., Providence, Berlin, Tokyo and Lisbon. The program offers a total of 66 international destinations to further enrich the MBA experience.
