The Financial Times ranks IE University 4th in entrepreneurship worldwide and the 1st in Europe.

IE University has celebrated the final of the Venture Lab, an international competition that showcases the best startups developed by its student and graduate entrepreneurs. Startup Everwill was the winner of the 25th edition of Venture Day Madrid. A unique online platform, Everwill provides standard funeral packages that can be purchased online with no hidden fees. The second prize went to another startup, Giraez, a secure community-enabled platform for cash to services remittances with tools to improve migrant workers’ financial and social wellbeing. Third prize went to Heyva Health, the first integrated digital health program for women in Indonesia.

The best startups of the 25th edition of IE Venture Lab presented their projects at Venture Day, a day organized by the institution around the world to promote entrepreneurship. In the last edition, eleven finalist startups presented their projects to a jury and an audience of international investors and entrepreneurs.

The event also included “Getting past the pitch” a panel featuring Monica Aznar Oriol, Senior Investment Associate at Antler; Mor Eini,Head of Business Development at APX, and Marta Huidobro, co-founder & President WA4STEAM. The panel discussion was moderated by Rocío Molina Atienza, a Tech IMBA student at IE University. In addition Neda Aldaihani, IE University Alumni, Co-Founder of Brilliant Lab and Tech Investor, and Paris de l’Etraz, Managing Director of the Venture Lab at IE University, held a fireside chat about Perserverance with passion.

Paris de l’Etraz noted: “since we began this new version of the Venture Lab in 2011 we have accelerated over 1,550 startups, over 6000 students, and today we are ranked 4th in the world of entrepreneurship education and 1st in Europe by Financial Times. We feel that we have changed the mindset of thousands of students, who always mention entrepreneurship as one of IE University’s distinguishing values”.

IE University strives to help students develop the skills and mindsets they need to lead positive change in the face of the growing level of uncertainty worldwide. To fulfill this mission, all undergraduate students take the IE Impact academic program as a core part of their curriculum regardless of their area of studies. “IE Impact consists of 4 courses, respectively, in the Humanities, Technology, Entrepreneurship and finally the IE Challenge, a course designed as an opportunity for students to get real-world experience as Innovation Consultants. Last year, 620 IEU students were in the IE Challenge, and currently there are almost 1000 who are working in teams to help enterprises, whose missions are driven by sustainability, to amplify their positive impact,” explained Allison Rohe, Exectutive Director of IE Impact at IE University.
