The Master in Finance Admission Process
The IE Admissions Department works full-time to ensure that dynamic and creative candidates with a deep well of untapped potential join our program. We undertake a rigorous and holistic selection process that balances the value of professional and academic achievements with well-developed interpersonal skills. It’s no coincidence our international classrooms are brimming with talent and vision—it’s what we do.
The admission process is divided into five steps. Below you’ll find detailed information on each step, from sending off the online application form to the final decision of our Admissions Committee. In addition, we provide a series of explanatory videos to answer any questions you may have about the process.
* Please note that “intake” refers to the start of the Master in Finance program. While we do not enforce specific application deadlines, we encourage you to send in your application as soon as possible before the program begins.

- To become an IE University student, all IE Community members should make a one-off contribution to the IE Foundation. This is a single payment of €1,200 to be made during the enrollment process.
PAYMENT PLAN
We understand that you’re making a significant investment and we believe that maximizing the availability of payment plan options is important in making your Master in Finance affordable.
Kindly note that plans with more than three consecutive installments will be charged €400 for the administrative service it involves.

Master in Finance Application process
Step 1: Online application form
Candidates must complete the sections that appear in the online application form. Additionally, they must provide the required documents and essential information as follows:
Step 2: Online assesment
Once you have submitted your online application and paid the application fee, you will receive a link to answer three live questions, two in video format and one in written format. This way, our admissions team will be able to meet you virtually and evaluate your capacity to respond in real time.
Step 3: Entrance exam
You are required to take one of our entrance exams: GRE, GMAT Exam, GMAT Focus Edition, CFA level I, or CAIA level I.
Regarding the GMAT exam, a competitive score is recommendable, 80% of our students have GMAT 650-770. If you take the GMAT Focus Exam we recommend a score of 605-755.
If you submit the GRE, the score should be equivalent to GMAT 650.
**We offer entrance exams waiver to a select number of students. The decision to offer waiver is made on a case-by-case basis. To qualify, candidates must show a competitive GPA and prior relevant experience in investment banking.
Step 4: Personal interview
You’ll go through an interview (face-to-face or via Skype) with the Admissions Team or an IE Business School Finance Ambassador.
Step 5: Admissions committe final decision
After the interview, your entire application will be evaluated holistically by our Admissions Committee. This is the last step of your application and it will take roughly 1-3 weeks for the Admissions Committee to get back to you with a final decision. Admissions are valid for the intake you apply to and the following one.

How do I start the application process?
The first step to applying for the Master in Applied Economics is to complete and submit the online application form. You can use your personal email to register a profile on our platform and, by creating a password, you can access it as many times as you need.
What are the requirements and the steps of the admissions process?
1. Online application form: Complete each section of the form and upload the required documents. You can access the online application form here.
2. Online assessment: Once you have submitted the online application and paid the application fee, you will receive a link to the Kira Assessment. This allows us to get a sense of your personality and potential before proceeding to a possible interview.
3. Entrance exam: You are required to take one of four entrance examinations. To apply, choose between the GRE, GMAT Focus Edition, CFA Level I or CAIA Level I.
4. Personal interview: The Admissions Committee will review your application and determine whether to advance you to the final interview. The interview helps us to get to know you better and gauge your potential as a part of IE University.
5. Final committee decision: It will take roughly one to three weeks for the Admissions Committee to get back to you with a final decision via email.

What score do I need on the entrance exams to apply for the Master in Finance?
As part of your application to the Master in Finance program, you are required to take one of four entrance exams. You can choose between the GRE, GMAT Focus Edition, CFA Level Ior CAIA Level I.
Should you opt to take the GMAT Focus Edition, we recommend a score of 605-755. As for the GRE, we recommend a score of 322-340.
What can I do to make my application more competitive?
It is important to ensure that your application not only reflects your academic and professional experience, but also emphasizes how you can add value to the Master in Finance and the IE Community at large. Further, your letter of motivation and personal interview should showcase elements your online application doesn’t cover. We want to understand why you wish to join the program and see your passions and personality mirrored in your application.
Can I send my application even if I don’t have all the requested documents right now?
Yes. Once we receive your application, we will review the documentation that you have submitted and inform you about the remaining items needed to complete your application.
Is there a deadline to apply?
No, there is no deadline to apply. Instead, we have a rolling admissions process, which means that you can apply at any time of the year. However, due to the large number of applications we receive, we encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible. Keep in mind that the student visa processing time may vary from country to country, so contact Student Services for more information.
How long does the admissions process take?
The various stages of our admissions process aim to identify those areas of your academic and personal profile that make you unique, and to make sure that you fit in with our educational model. On average, the admissions process can take between four to six weeks, but it will always depend on each specific case. Places in our master’s programs are limited, and they are awarded on a first-come-first-served basis by strict order of admission date.
Do you grant entrance exam waivers?
Entrance exam waivers are available to a select number of students and are offered strictly on a case-by-case basis. In order to be considered, you must have a competitive GPA and be able to demonstrate prior relevant experience in investment banking.
