Vikas Agarwal

Vikas is a PhD candidate in Strategy at IE Business School. His research delves into platform markets and ecosystems. More specifically, Vikas studies decentralized organizations that leverage distributed technologies like blockchains and smart contracts. How such organizations differ from traditional hierarchical organizations and the implications for organizational performance are some of the issues that form the core of his research. Before embarking upon his journey as a research scholar, Vikas was a tech entrepreneur, founding and successfully exiting two startups focused on content discovery, curation, and personalization. Prior to joining the doctoral program at IE, Vikas earned a Master in Business Analytics and Big Data from IE University, instilling in him a deep curiosity to uncover what drives technology and innovation in the rapidly evolving organizations of today. Vikas also holds an MBA from Institute of Management Technology (Ghaziabad, India) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) degree from University of Delhi. Outside of work, Vikas is an avid Texas hold’em poker player.
