"From my first experience with IE, the IE weekend in fall 2019, I knew that IE would be the perfect fit—primarily because of so many inspiring talents who stood out through not only their different origins, but especially through their different, yet similar mindsets of striving for positive change in the world."

CAN YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF?

I am Tim, a 24 years old Master’s student from Germany. I have a background in Management and gained internship experience within IBM, LVMH, and P&G. At work, I am passionate about designing meaningful relationships between brands and customers as well as sustainable stakeholder management. At times where I am not engaged in student initiatives, work, or classwork, I love to swim, dance, and visit concerts (pre-and post-covid). Currently, you will most likely find me spending time with my friends in Retiro or at the beautiful terraces of Madrid.

WHAT DEGREE ARE YOU PURSUING AT IE?

Master in Customer Experience and Innovation at the IE University.

WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO IE?

The internationality, open-mindedness, and future thinking mentality of the students as well as faculty for sure. From my first experience with IE, the IE weekend in fall 2019, I knew that IE would be the perfect fit—primarily because of so many inspiring talents who stood out through not only their different origins, but especially through their different, yet similar mindsets of striving for positive change in the world. MCXI particularly is a unique program that was just the cherry on top. What I value the most at IE today is the comforting, yet challenging environment that IE provides as well as my MCXI family.

TELL US MORE ABOUT THE IE OUT AND ALLIES CLUB EXPERIENCE.

I joined relatively late, a couple of months ago, as Asif and Carissa looked for support for the LGBT+@Work Conference. Now, I am managing most of the marketing-related topics such as content creation and digital marketing. For me, my work at the IE Out and Allies Club is the perfect way to keep me out of my comfort zone and to learn new things every day, while supporting a cause that is close to my heart.

HOW WILL YOU KEEP SUPPORTING THE CLUB ONCE YOU GRADUATE?

I will make sure that I can convey the many learnings I have made during these stressful weeks and months, may it be moments of failure or success, with the new team. I also believe that by starting a full-time position this summer, I can be of help to spread the club’s initiatives, especially LGBT+@Work, within my organization and professional network to continue the search for suitable sponsors and speakers.

TELL US MORE ABOUT THE LGBT @ WORK EVENT.

LGBT+@Work is one of the many great initiatives at IE that demonstrate the student’s and university’s dedication to diversity and inclusion. To me, this conference is so much more than a business event. The emotional stories that proud leaders from all over the world share during these two days certainly have the impact to change people’s lives for the better. Regardless of being part of the LGBTQ community or not, our message is to stay true to yourself and be proud of who you are. And this is exactly why every hour of work that our team puts into this conference is worth it.

HOW DID YOU GATHER SO MUCH MOMENTUM/SPONSORSHIPS/ATTENDEES?

I feel very honored to be part of our small but highly dedicated team together with Carissa and Asif. They have been putting so much work into creating something, of which I am convinced, to be truly inspiring. During the process, we stayed true to ourselves and the original purpose of the conference. Hence, we have ensured authenticity and were able to express our passion for what we are doing. And I believe, this might have been the reason why we were able to achieve the momentum that we have thus far.

WHAT IS YOUR NEXT STEO AFTER GRADUATING FROM IE? WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN THE FUTURE?

Very soon, I will start as a Brand Manager in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods industry. In the future, I want to become an advocate of gender equality and diversity in the workplace.
