ELLE and IE Business School announce the finals of the ELLE Talent Project
A prize of €25,000 and a scholarship for IE Business School´s Master in Management program worth €30,000 will go to the most innovative, creative and viable business project. The five best business projects, selected from a total of 134 entries, will take part in the finals held on March 28 in Area 31, IE´s start-up laboratory, where a panel comprised of renowned experts will choose the winner.
The ELLE Talent Project, a business plan competition for young entrepreneurs run by ELLE magazine and IE Business School, is nearing completion. The judges of the competition found it hard to choose five finalists from the 124 entries due to the high level of quality across the board and the extensive range of ideas.
Benedetta Poletti, director of ELLE magazine, was delighted with the excellent standard of the entries. “I was amazed at the number of people and the level of their work. Their ideas were all extremely useful, coming at a time when we need passion and creativity more than ever before.”
On March 28 the competition final will be held where groups will present their projects to a panel of experts. Members of the jury will include Benedetta Poletti, Director of ELLE magazine; Kiron Ravindran, Associate Dean of IE’s Master in Management Program; María Eugenia Girón, expert in the luxury sector; Ignacio Larru, business angel, mentor and professor at IE; and Liz Fleming, Associate Director of IE Venture Lab. They will decide which project will be the winner of the €25,000 and a scholarship to do IE’s Master in Management program.
After a first selection process a group of expert mentors from IE, many of whom are entrepreneurs, whittled down the number to five finalists, giving equal weighting to creativity, viability, and innovation. The mentors, who all have extensive experience in the evaluation of business projects, are Mercedes Cubillo, Ignacio Larru, Teresa Gonzalo, Javier Latorre, Ivan Briones, Borja Alonso and Juan Gasca.
“Our mentors have a great deal of experience in gauging how well a business project will work,” says Liz Fleming, Director of IE’s Venture Lab. “They chose the five finalists based on factors that will play a key role in the future success of the company, such as viability and the strength of the project team.”
The five finalist projects include a broad range of business areas that include beauty, DIY fashion, and smartphone apps.
