Antonio Montes awarded the Medal of the Order of Isabella the Catholic
Antonio Montes, Director of Strategic Development at IE Business School, has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Isabella the Catholic. He received the prestigious recognition in a ceremony presided by Spain’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, José Manuel García Margallo, and Minister of the Interior, Jorge Fernández Díaz.
The presentation ceremony was held yesterday at the Casa Asia building in Barcelona in the presence of the delegate of the Catalan government, Llanos de Luna, and included the presentation of medals to a further five members of the Spanish business community.
The Royal Order of Isabella the Catholic is a prestigious Spanish distinction, introduced by King Fernando VII on March 14, 1815, with the name of the Royal and American Order of Isabella the Catholic, aimed at providing “recognition of proven loyalty and merits gained in the pursuit of prosperity for said regions.” It is currently awarded in recognition of “extraordinary conduct of Spanish and non-Spanish citizens which furthers the civil good and proves beneficial to the nation, or which contributes greatly to building relations of friendship and collaboration between the Spanish nation and the rest of the international community".
In addition to Antonio Montes, the other recipients of the award on this occasion were: Salvador Alemany, President of Abertis; Javier Monzón, President of Indra; Jorge Calvet, President of Gamesa Corporación Tecnológica; and Juan Lladó, Vice President and CEO of Técnicas Reunidas. Josep Manuel Basáñez, Vice President of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, was awarded the Order of Civil Merit.
