IE Business School and EY launch the Global Corporation Center
IE Business School and EY (formerly Ernst and Young) España have launched the Global Corporation Center (GCC), a research center which aims to serve as a platform for the debate and analysis of key trends and strategies for 21st century business organizations.
The Center will run workshops, publish research reports, and examine challenges arising from the new turns that globalization has taken, covering areas like corporate diplomacy and the organization of transnational corporations, as well as providing a detailed analysis of key markets.
The Global Corporation Center will have a Presidential Committee comprised of Giuseppe Tringali, CEO of Mediaset España, who will serve as President of the Center; Juan Costa, Partner and Global Leader of the Area of Sustainability and Climate Change at EY; Diego del Alcázar, President of IE Business School; and Francisco Navarro, Vice-Dean of IE and Director of the Center. All were present in the official presentation of the Center which took place on April 8, and which was also attended by José Miguel Andrés, Presidente of EY Spain, along with representatives from the corporate and academic worlds.
Giuseppe Tringali commented on how technology is accelerating the already advanced process of globalization. “Changes are taking place at an extraordinary speed, at both a macro and micro level, and it is vital to understand these changes in order to compete.”
Juan Costa talked about how economic events in recent years have driven actors to seek a different global economy, based on new factors that have brought about radical change in the way business is done. “The value of intangible assets is increasingly important in companies, and that’s why it is essential to know what is going on and be able to be pioneers in terms of new market trends. Business organizations need strategies that generate value, not only in the short term but also in the long term, which will permit companies to lead the business world of the future. The Global Corporation Center will center on the search for solutions in this new business environment.”
Francisco Navarro, Vice Dean of IE Business School and Executive Director of the Center, sees the world as one big market, which in the majority of cases functions in line with standard production processes, and yet tends to acquire specific characteristics in local environments. “Globalization is influencing countries as well as people and businesses. The Global Corporation Center will examine the impact of this new scenario on corporate strategy.”
In the words of José Miguel Andrés, President of EY Spain: “The fact that EY and IE Business School have created this Center for analysis and debate will make it possible to focus on needs and fields that require corporate action. I know that EY will be able to provide the kind expertise that has led to our presence in 150 countries worldwide.”
