IE Energy Day Ignites Future Leaders in the Energy Sector
Leading industry experts gathered in IE University for the Energy Day to discuss innovations in the sector.
On July 3rd, IE University hosted its inaugural Energy Day, a flagship event organized by the IE Energy Club and Talent & Careers department. The event united students and leading companies like CEPSA, Barter Energy, and Avalon Renovables for the dynamic world of the energy sector.
The highlight of the event was a panel discussion featuring representatives from top regional energy companies, including Sergio Martínez Zarza, Director of Business Development and M&A at Avalon Renovables; María Rodríguez de Bethencourt, Head of Financial Control & Asset Manager at Nexwell Power; Christian Barba Rodulfo, International Business Development and Storage Director at EDP Renewables; and Eric Manuel Pelsise, Head of Gas Trading at CEPSA. The panelists offered innovative insights into the latest industry advancements, shared strategic knowledge about financial strategies, and discussed career opportunities in emerging roles.

Attendees also participated in a masterclass titled “Digitalization in the Energy Sector: Transforming Grids, Markets, and Sustainability,” led by Félix Campos, a Senior Digital Energy Expert at BCG’s Madrid Office. The session explored the transformative impact of digital innovations on the energy industry, the evolution of smart grids, the potential of digital market platforms, and cutting-edge sustainable energy solutions.
After the enriching company presentations and interactive discussions, the event concluded with a networking session, allowing attendees to connect with representatives from over 10 top energy companies, including SotySolar, CEPSA, and EDP.
