MAKE THE MOST OF A HIGHLY INTERACTIVE PROGRAM
We bring education to you, so you can get the most out of it. Our approach isn’t just online or only on campus—it’s blended.
Our future-forward methodologies combine the best of technology, pedagogy and our world-class faculty, so that you can experience best-in-class learning while enjoying maximum flexibility.
Read on to discover how we provide the best-in-class learning experience.
Through our virtual campus, you get a challenging and highly interactive educational experience. The strategically structured, live faculty-led sessions are designed to fit into your busy schedule and can be accessed anywhere there’s an internet connection. Engage with other global professionals in synchronous and asynchronous sessions including interactive small groups where you work on real-world, industry-based case studies.
On Saturdays, you will engage in virtual discussions that vary depending on the topic determined for that day. These sessions are truly an extension of the traditional classroom experience, allowing you to negotiate and collaborate with your classmates and professors in the same classroom, despite the fact that you’re participating from different parts of the globe.
Asynchronous online discussions
Connect anytime, anywhere. The forums offer the possibility to participate in the faculty-led asynchronous sessions every week from Monday to Thursday. Professors will moderate these written discussions about chosen topics in order to help you achieve the desired learning objectives.
After getting to know your classmates virtually, you will be able to meet them in person through all-day workshops and classes that further develop your soft skills and teamwork. You’ll get the most out of an in-person experience, but we understand that some people’s circumstances might call for 100% online participation. Either way, we encourage you to take advantage of Madrid after class and join all the different networking events available every night.
Global Immersion Week
Participate in an optional face-to-face week around the world to discover a new destination and learn about the local business environment and interact with other IE cohorts from some of our other MBA programs. In the past, these destinations have included San Francisco, São Paolo, Singapore, Miami, Shanghai, and Mumbai.
MAKE THE MOST OF A HIGHLY INTERACTIVE PROGRAM
THE FIRST STEPS: PRE-PROGRAM ON-BOARDING
Every journey begins by laying the foundation. Before the first in-person residential, you will be fully on-boarded online to establish a general understanding of the program structure, the virtual campus and what to expect along the way.
This pre-program phase is designed to prepare you for the rigorous journey ahead. In the three weeks leading to the program launch, you will deep dive into two pre-programs to solidify your base for the core courses to come: Financial Reporting and Analysis, and Managerial Economics.
During the case method session, you will get a firsthand look at the approach that will be used throughout the program—giving you a headstart on how to prepare and manage your future online discussions.
MEETING YOUR CLASS AND STARTING YOUR LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT JOURNEY
This term kicks off with your official welcome to Madrid! You will be introduced to your class and truly take off running in this first residential week.
Teamwork is key in the Global Online MBA as it’s vital to success in online learning settings. This in-person week includes workshops that will help you collaborate effectively with your peers, adapt to change and communicate effortlessly.
What’s more, during this term you will take a module on social entrepreneurship, giving you firsthand insights on how to lead in today’s digital business environment. You will have the chance to meet industry leaders and start building your global, professional network.
Designed to help you focus on your personal development process, during this first residential term you will take an assessment to highlight your strengths and find areas with room for improvement.
KICKING OFF THE CORE
The first online period is the central phase of the Global Online MBA. During these core courses, you will learn the necessary skills to manage a company effectively and efficiently. With foundational knowledge and professional insights, this experience will prepare you to make vital decisions confidently.
Through the Financial Reporting and Analysis, and Economics courses, you will solidify your understanding of the macro environment and the backbone of financial analysis. This will be followed with Strategic Management and Marketing Management, where you will build the foundation for strategizing based on customer insight and needs. Lastly, you will deep dive into proper management control, giving you the tools to stand out from the rest in decision-making and critical authority.
Complemented by conferences across a wide array of industries and regions, this module will help you decide your next professional move.
POLISHING YOUR VISION AND DRIVING IMPACTFUL CHANGE
The second term brings you back to Madrid where you will polish your vision and make change happen. With a strong focus on taking initiative, you will cement your leadership abilities and expand your global network.
As a leader, you will learn to successfully on-board and drive change through invaluable soft skills. With workshops on influence, persuasion and negotiation, working effectively with diverse teams will become second nature.
Unlock your potential in a creativity and ideation workshop, and complete your leading and driving change course. Then, dive into your next module on strategy in business, government and society.
This in-person section gives you the chance to network through additional masterclasses delivered by leading executives from various industries. Aside from networking, you can also start your customized career coaching sessions. Your coach will guide you toward the next path for your personal and professional growth.
FINISHING THE CORE
The second online period closes the core section of the Global Online MBA. You will take the Digital Transformation course to expand your online competencies, while you explore Finance in an additional core course.
Open your entrepreneurial mindset and gain on how to set up and run operations. First, you will break down how to create value in an operations course. Next, you will learn to be a leader of change with guidance from an entrepreneurship course. Broken into two parts, you will deep dive into startup creation and corporate entrepreneurship. Finally, you will be introduced to data analytics through a four-session module designed to deepen your understanding of analyzing your company, products and clients.
Serving as the foundation for your final project, the entrepreneurship course will change the way you look at combining passion with success. Closing the core period online mirrors today’s working environment and sets you up to build a better future.
EXPLORE AND CHOOSE YOUR PATH
It’s time to choose if you want to explore your own areas of interest through electives or specializations. The last term is when you truly become a transformational manager who is able to find new avenues of value with your well-rounded knowledge base.
As you won’t simply be a general driver of change, but one with the skills to work within a specific sector on projects that matter to you, now is the time to customize your journey. You will take one of the three tracks available: Marketing, Finance or General Management. In doing so, you will take the three required electives from the track you choose, and then choose three other electives.
The third period is also the time where you will work on your final entrepreneurial project. Before beginning the project, you will take a course on how to scale up your business effectively. You will then select between the start-up creation or the corporate entrepreneurship you previously worked on and join a team. With agility and boldness, your team—guided and assessed by a coach—will elaborate a business plan that you will work on as your final step.
PLANNING NEXT STEPS
In the final residential period, you will continue discovering leadership and career management trends through additional modules. Here you will also participate in networking events alongside your cohort and executives from a wide array of industries to further expand your professional connections.
This is also the moment where you and your team will give a presentation of your fully developed entrepreneurship project. Designed to help you show off your recently acquired agile mentality and ability to transform businesses, your presentation will take place in front of a panel of faculty and industry experts ready to watch you drive lasting change.
