IE Business School, Fifth in World in Poets & Quants Ranking of Best MBA Programs for Entrepreneurship

The school programs focus specifically on entrepreneurship in addition to leadership, innovation, and sustainability.

For the past three years, Poets & Quants has ranked the best MBA programs in the world for entrepreneurship and this year, IE Business School has risen three positions to 5th worldwide. The International MBA at IE Business School is a customizable and fully immersive one-year program with a student body that hails from more than 75 countries. The beginning of the program is rooted in business fundamentals, with courses that focus specifically on entrepreneurship in addition to leadership, innovation, and sustainability. Following the Core Period, students begin to customize their program for their desired career and can choose between the Business Impact Lab, Startup Lab, Tech Lab or Social Impact Lab.

The spirit of enterprise has been at the core of IE Business School and IE University since its founding in 1973 by a group of visionary entrepreneurs. Each degree program includes a strong focus on exploring innovation practices and cultivating sharp entrepreneurial skills. Thirty percent of IE University alumni have begun a startup at some point in their career. Furthermore, in the past nine years, IE University graduates who have participated in the Venture Lab have received 80 million euros in funding.

According to Poets & Quants, for those highly ranked schools, including IE Business School:

“Teaching entrepreneurship is as much about launching a new enterprise as it is about learning a new way of thinking. For schools, developing an entrepreneurial mindset in students is as crucial a part of the MBA tool kit as any core discipline whether it is finance or marketing.”

To highlight the importance of entrepreneurship in the teaching at IE University, IE Business School Professor Rachida Justo gave a short masterclass on social entrepreneurship during the institution’s recent inauguration ceremony for the new IE Tower. The distinguished guests in the audience, including H.M. King Felipe VI, learned about the importance of catalyzing social entrepreneurship and the role academic institutions can play in that effort.
