IE Business School Professors Celia de Anca and Lee Newman Shortlisted for Thinkers50 Awards

Professor Celia de Anca and Professor Lee Newman are among the business gurus nominated for this year’s Thinkers50 Distinguished Achievement Awards.

The definitive global ranking of management thinkers, Thinkers50 is published every two years and evaluates global business thinkers on originality of ideas, practicality of ideas, presentation style, written communication, loyalty of followers, business sense, international outlook, rigor of research, impact of ideas, and ability to inspire.

Celia de Anca is in the running for the Thinkers50 Global Solutions Award.  As IE Business School Professor of Global Diversity, de Anca is an expert in Islamic finance and speaks fluent Arabic. She is the author of Beyond Tribalism: Managing Identities in a Diverse World (Palgrave Macmillan, 2012). Her work seeks to bridge the gap between academia and practice to enable greater understanding of the dynamics of diversity in organizations.

Lee Newman is nominated for the Thinkers50 Future Think Award. As Professor and Dean of Innovation and Behavior at IE Business School, Newman’s work is focused on the area of positive psychology and behavioral science. Recently, he has explored the role of behavioral biases in human judgment and decision-making, and the impact they have when making decisions under risk and uncertainty. Prior to pursuing an academic career, he was a founder and senior manager in two technology-based startups in New York City (Brainstorm Interactive, and HR One), and served as a management consultant with McKinsey and Company in Chicago.

Winners of the Thinkers50 awards will be announced November 11, 2013.
