IE Undergraduate Students Shine at IEU Labs Closing Ceremony

IE undergraduate students completed their Labs and were recognized for their projects and progress during a ceremony at the IE Tower auditorium.

The Tech Lab was voted for the best presentation, during which participants talked about a short course on AI, that helped students even outside of the data science field contribute to the projects with companies like Santander, KPMG, and Atos.

“The extensive period of the lab was really a captivating experience for us, where hard work and coordination were the main skills,” said students from the Tech Lab during their presentation on stage.

During the 2022-2023 academic year, over 800 undergraduate students enrolled in 17 labs, collaborating with 90 companies, both national and international, as well as non-profit organizations. Isabel Sánchez, the director of IEU Labs, praised the participants for their hard work. She reminded students that labs are not only a great opportunity for their CV, but it is also a wonderful journey to look back on in the future.

“Apart from the good work and experience, I would like to tell you that the best reward from labs is the alumni who participated in labs, who are now working and ask us to work with labs as clients. So please keep in mind that if it was a useful and enjoyable experience for you, eventually when you graduate, you can provide us an opportunity of working with you again, but in a different role,” said Sánchez.

Another lab, Startup lab, received an award for the best video about their time spent in lab, learning about entrepreneurship, and working with mentors.

“Startup Lab is a dynamic ecosystem that fuels the spirit of entrepreneurship. In the lab, with the help of mentors, students develop their ideas and build their future,” said students in their video.

The Strategy Lab was awarded for being the best communicator, acknowledging their effective and informative social media coverage of lab activities. Students introduced participants, provided regular updates on the materials learned, and showcased the projects completed.

IEU Labs program allows first- and second-year students who wish to start professional practice gain skills in a hands-on internship-like experience. IE Business School supports this program and its alignment with the school’s values of knowledge, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
