MOOC about management by IE Business School, recognized among the best in the world

MOOC | IE Business School
Critical Perspectives on Management was the first of 35 MOOCs developed by IE Business School.

Critical Perspectives on Management, the first Massive Open Online Course developed by IE Business School, has been included in the "Top 100 MOOCs of All Time" compiled by Class Central, the free directory of online university courses that helps users find and track MOOCs. The online course, developed by IE Business School professor Rolf Strom-Olsen, has been selected from more than 13,000 MOOCs as the 16th best in the business category.

The main objective of the MOOC is to address how managers understand their role within a company: how they make decisions and set priorities, thereby allowing students to compare success and failure. Critical Perspectives on Management, the first MOOC developed at IE Business School, was released on January 13, 2014. Since then, more than 100,000 students have registered for the course, which currently has 10,685 enrolled students around the world, mainly from the United States, Spain, the United Kingdom, India and Germany. The overall MOOC rating on the Coursera portal is 4.8 points out of 5. Today, IE Business School has a total of 35 Business, Marketing, Economics and Digitalization MOOCs.

"I think this MOOC demonstrates IE University's humanistic values regarding business education and our emphasis on combining critical research with a traditional management curriculum. It is gratifying to see that this approach to addressing management has found some success in the world of open access education and has found a student audience that extends beyond our physical classroom," says Rolf Strom-Olsen, the course developer.
