International MBA - The ExperienceAn MBA Out Of the Ordinary
AN UNMATCHED COMMUNITY
When you embark on the International MBA, you join one of the most diverse networks in the business world, with students from different academic backgrounds and sectors. Our students know that cultural differences are something to be celebrated. During the program, you will live an environment that transcends cultural differences to plant the seeds of unconventional thinking.
On top of this, we recently launched our BUDDieS & NEWBieS program, this initiative connects senior and junior IMBA students in order to maximize your social, academic and professional experience and provide different activities outside the classroom, allowing for additional networking opportunities, and encourage new students to exchange ideas with our school’s global community.
The aim is to smoothen your first weeks into the program besides strengthening the IE Business School community. A BUDDie is an International MBA student from a senior class who wants to connect with incoming students NEWBieS from the concurrent intake by providing support, friendship and guidance throughout their time together in program.
IE Business School is strongly committed to supporting the entrepreneurial projects of our students and alumni. Every year, more than 1,500 students receive training in Entrepreneurial Management at IE Business School.
In addition, our Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center takes this thinking far beyond the classroom. On campus we have our own incubator space, Area 31, which hosts dozens of start-up teams each year, and provides an inspiring physical space where students and local entrepreneurs can interact and share ideas. Off campus, IE hosts dozens of events around the world each year to bring IE to the world and the world to IE. We hope to see you at one soon!Want to learn more?
The humanities represent an integral part of our identity, and therefore these academic disciplines are mandatory in all our programs. The humanities provide the intellectual content, breadth of vision, personal enrichment and well-informed perspectives needed for success in the current complex and competitive landscape.
How do you give back? Our students may come from all around the world, but they all share a commitment to leave the world a better place than they found it. In classes like Social Entrepreneurship and Business & Environment Strategy for CEOs, students explore traditional and novel approaches to solving enduring social and environmental challenges. You will have the chance to collaborate with key players in the world of Social Responsibility, through initiatives such as:
- Joining Net Impact, the largest student club at IE
- Organizing events with the IE Charity Club
- Competing in the Impact Weekend Social Start-up Competition
- Attending or volunteering at the annual Social Responsibility Forum
- Connecting, learning, and realizing progressive ideas for a better world at The Impact Hub

MADRID FOR YOU
Madrid is one of the most popular cities in Europe for Gen Z travelers, and is one of the most student friendly cities in Spain, with a great, affordable public transport network, cool underground culture and fabulous nightlife. But Spain’s capital is also home to international companies of the stature of Google, Microsoft and Apple, creating a myriad of opportunities for a professional experience.
Our International MBA takes place in the heart of Madrid, placing you right in the center of the action in this bustling, breathtaking global city. Madrid is in a league of its own and provides the perfect backdrop for rounding off a unique educational experience.
REASONS TO STUDY OUR INTERNATIONAL MBA IN MADRID
MADRID IS STUDENT FRIENDLY
Madrid’s residents and local government appreciate the value students bring to the city and you are sure to be given a warm welcome. Whether you are on our central campus, visiting any of the world-class museums or out enjoying a cold drink and tapas on a sunny terrace, you will always feel at home in Madrid.
MADRID IS CULTURE
One of the oldest cities in Europe, there is so much to explore. Whether it is ancient history, modern art, classical music or flamenco dance, you will find a range of activities to suit your interests and your budget. Film buffs shouldn’t miss the Cine Doré, a beautiful cinema that is home to Spain’s film institute, tasked with preserving the country’s films, which screens films from around the world, many in English, with tickets a bargain at €2.50.
MADRID IS NATURE
Hiking, skiing, mountain biking… these activities are all possible within 45 minutes of the city center. La Pedriza, Cotos or the Guadarrama mountains and nature reserve offer the best hiking territory, and there are even small refuges in case you decide to head off for longer.
MADRID IS GREAT FOOD
Paella and tapas are international words, and Spain has a strong culinary tradition with eating out an affordable option for all. But don't forget to go local and sample 'cocido madrileño', a stew made with pork, chicken and beef, served with chickpeas.
MADRID IS SPORT
The Spanish are great lovers of sport, and the capital is no exception. The city has two local teams in the Champions League – Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid – but there are all sorts of other sports you can enjoy when studying abroad in Madrid, from hockey and netball to handball and athletics.
MADRID IS FRIENDLY AND DIVERSE
Madrid is a very multicultural city and prides itself on its openness to all people, with no discrimination due to gender, sexual orientation, religion or race. Lavapiés and Malasaña are probably the most multicultural neighborhoods to head for if you want to experience the city’s rich cosmopolitan maelstrom of influences from all corners of the world.
MADRID IS LIFE
Chilled-out roof top terraces with a view, cavernous underground bars, cool clubs, festivals, flamenco tablaos, music. Madrid has what it takes to have fun.3 rd
