In the world of finance, finding meaning in your work is crucial for personal fulfillment and career enrichment. However, determining what that means and how to achieve it can be a complex process. The Master in Finance is designed to help you define, refine and align your sense of purpose with your career aspirations. We will work with you to help you understand what gives you a sense of meaning and how to use your financial knowledge to make a positive impact on today’s economy.
The decisions made by financial leaders can have a ripple effect on the economy and can have a significant influence on various stakeholders such as shareholders, employees, customers and the general public. They can support and invest in initiatives that contribute to the common good, such as education, healthcare and environmental sustainability by aligning their financial strategies with social and environmental goals.
An important part of the Master in Finance is gaining the ability to navigate today’s most pressing challenges in the financial industry, without losing sight of environmental and humanistic considerations. You will learn about the key concepts that underpin sustainable finance, including key financial regulations, how to implement environmental, social and governance considerations with investments, and how to apply sustainable practices to every function within an organization while maintaining growth. Ensuring sustainability is at the heart of financial progress, a way in which you can make an impact in the world.
In order to utilize finance skills and tackle social issues in the world of work, you have to adopt an approach that we refer to at IE University as social entrepreneurship—a method we created to push entrepreneurial thinking to the forefront and find innovative solutions to today’s most pressing concerns.
Unlocking your passion to elicit change and building your professional profile in finance requires you to overcome modern and emerging challenges. The Master in Finance will take the skills that you already bring to the table and enhance them in order to make an impact beyond the workplace.
Working with excellent people makes you want to be excellent. And at IE Business School, the people you’re surrounded with are not just excellent—they’re outstanding.
The Master in Finance places a focus on working well, which means the people are as important as the result. We help you become a financial professional who recognizes the power of teamwork, diversity, inclusivity, well-being and positive leadership.
As part of the Microfinance Technical Assistance Project, the Master in Finance students will apply the knowledge acquired during the course with a trip to Ghana. The main purpose is to acquire meaningful, hands-on experience to meet with the management and staff and gauge their current economic situation.
The program’s purpose is to provide the highest-quality training in the concepts, tools and techniques that shape the finance industry. It is designed to equip you with a multidisciplinary skill set backed by practical experience, so you can forge a successful career in the sector at a global level.
With our unique specialization tracks, you can center your studies around your own particular interests and career aspirations. Choose from specializations in investment banking and private equity, global markets and asset management, real estate finance and alternative investments, or finance analytics and digital finance—whatever your purpose may be, we’ll prepare you with the skills and knowledge you need to fulfill it.
Our program teaches sustainable finance not only through specific modules such as ESG & Impact Investing, but with opportunities to participate in microfinance initiatives in Ghana as part of our Financiers Without Borders collaboration. You won’t just learn about the impact of sustainable finance—you’ll see it for yourself.
The trip to Ghana to join microfinance initiatives is an example of the real-life experiences you’ll gain as part of the program. But beyond that, our entire ecosystem is founded on our core values of sustainability, entrepreneurship, diversity, innovation and humanities. Everything we do, from our program content to our initiatives to reach out to our local communities and beyond, is informed by those values.
