International experts from over twenty higher education institutions in different world continents met in Madrid at the conference on Reinventing Higher Education: new ways of differentiation to discuss challenges and new trends in the sector.

IE University in Madrid has joined forces with the prestigious College of Law to create an LL.B degree in Civil and English Law combining study of the civil and common law traditions. The innovative course is open to students undertaking the IE University LL.B. On successful completion of the four-year dual degree study program students will receive both the IE LL.B and the College of Law’s LL.B in Civil and English Law meaning that they are able to qualify as lawyers in the English, Welsh and Spanish jurisdictions.

IE University holds the No. 43 position worldwide in the International Herald Tribune ranking of the main universities that employers intend to recruit from in the future, and which have the best graduates. The ranking is based on the opinion of 2,200 CEOs and top-tier executives from 1,000 companies in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, the US and the UK, about the best 150 universities in terms of employability. US universities Harvard and Yale lead the ranking, followed by Cambridge and Oxford in the UK.

Design and communication are the two main themes of the activities co-organized by IE University in the upcoming edition of the Hay Festival, the annual international gathering in celebration of literature and ideas. Hay Festival 2012 is set to take place in Segovia from September 22 to 30, bringing together authors and artists from around the world. As academic partner and key sponsor, IE University is actively collaborating with the Hay Festival, by organizing meetings with big names in diverse disciplines, sponsoring the press office, and encouraging its students to serve as volunteers.

Global public relations agency Weber Shandwick took part this Monday in the presentation of end of course projects by students of IE University’s Master in Corporate Communication. In the course of the event the Weber Shandwick Prize for the best project was awarded to Building Brand Awareness for the National Geographic Store Journey.
