Dr. de Areilza is Dean of IE School of Arts and Humanities. She has been the main architect in the introduction of International Relations and the Humanities as a traversal syllabus in all degrees at IE. She promoted the internationalization of IE University by signing educational programs with the University of California at Berkeley and Brown University. Arantza also founded the IE Master in International Relations, as well as the international relations and humanities blogs, both aimed at bringing humanities and social sciences closer to the world of business and law. Under her lead, IE School of Arts & Humanities became a member of the Consortium of Humanities Centers and Institutes (CHCI) and the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA).

Arantza´s professional career began as research fellow at the Karl- Eberhard Universität Tübingens (GE). She later worked as international observer for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Sarajevo, Bosnia. She served as Executive Director at the Association of European Journalists and as Executive Director of Fundación Consejo España-Estados Unidos. She is fluent in Spanish, French, English, German and Italian, has an intermediate level of Portuguese and basic notions of Chinese.
