Professor Ibrahim Al-Marashi's research interests are generally related to media and politics, and media and conflict.  His ongoing research also examines the role of media and politics in the Arab World, Turkey and Iran. In terms of greater interests in the region, his work deals with the role of media and terrorism, how domestic and international politics are reflected in local pop culture and film history of the Middle East.  Furthermore, he also examines how mainstream Western media covers the region, particularly focusing on coverage of the 1991 and 2003 wars in Iraq.
