The Hyatt Foundation announced yesterday in Chicago that the 2014 edition of the Pritzker Price would go to Japanese architect Shigeru Ban. The jury for the prize, which is often referred to as the Nobel Prize of Architecture, underscored Shigeru Ban’s humanitarian work, which includes architechtonic solutions for disaster areas.

IE University set to open new urban campus building in Madrid in September

IE University is to open a new campus building in the center of Madrid this coming September. The new building, which has a surface area of some 7,000m2 and is located at Calle Velázquez 130, forms part of IE University’s plans to strengthen its presence in Madrid and expand its bachelor degree program portfolio. 

Undergraduate students from IE University among the top 4 of the Hult Prize, Dubai

An IE University Team comprising students Stefan Wolf Staertzel, Victor Berthon, Pablo Otero and Carlos Beltrán, won a spot among the top 4 in the regional finals of the prestigious Hult Prize, the planet’s largest student competition in the field of social entrepreneurship, with a million dollar prize. IE students were the only graduates competing against more experienced candidates with PhDs, MBAs and a range of master’s degrees. They were also the only students under 22 in a final round in which the average age was 30 years old.

IE University is ranked No. 5 in Europe and No. 25 in the world in the 2014 ranking of universities published by Youth Incorporated  magazine and Education Times, the education supplement of The Times of India, which has one of the world’s largest circulations. IE University is the only institution in continental Europe among the top 25 universities, the majority of which are from the Anglo Saxon world (84%), led by American universities. IE University has climbed 4 positions in the ranking since last year’s edition, and 12 positions since 2012.

IE University is the No. 1 University in Spain, No. 12 in Europe and No. 34 worldwide in the Global Employability Survey and University Ranking 2013 published today by US daily International New York Times. The ranking gauges how attractive leading universities are for recruiters. Some five thousand HR directors and experts from 29 countries took part in the survey, which not only highlighted the importance recruiters attach to academic excellence, but also their insistence on the key role of a practical learning process, interpersonal skills, teamwork, a capacity to solve problems, and the ability to work under pressures.
