Ibrahim Al-Marashi

Ibrahim Al-Marashi was one of the first professors at IE University, hired in 2008, and having taught for the Bachelor in Communication and the Masters in International Relations. 

Since 2017 he has been a visiting professor for the School of Politics, Economics, & Global Affairs, and in 2025 began teaching the course “The Big History of Ideas and Innovation” in the School of Science and Technology.  He primarily researches Middle East history and the history of technology. His publications include A Concise History of the Middle East, 13th edition (Routledge, 2024), The Modern History of Iraq, 4th edition (Routledge, 2017), and Iraq’s Armed Forces: An Analytical History (Routledge, 2008).
