Laura Zoboli

Laura is a scholar of Economic and Business Law. Her research focuses on the interaction between legal frameworks and market dynamics, with a particular emphasis on how regulation responds to technological innovation and sustainability imperatives. She works across intellectual property, data governance, and competition law, contributing to projects focused on regulatory tools for emerging technologies, policies for data sharing, and legal frameworks that support the circular economy.

Laura was awarded a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship in 2022 for her project REBOOT.AI, which investigated experimental regulatory models such as sandboxes for trustworthy artificial intelligence. Her scholarship contributed to EU-funded initiatives including the Justice Programme’s COMP.EU.TER project (Public and Private Enforcement of EU Competition Law in the Age of Big Data) and the Jean Monnet Network EULEN (Enforcement of EU Law). She is the author of a 2023 monograph on how AI is reshaping the patent system.

Before joining IE University, Laura held academic positions at the University of Brescia and at the University of Warsaw, where she continues to coordinate the Centre for Antitrust and Regulatory Studies. She has been a visiting researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition (Munich), Harvard University’s Berkman Klein Center, and the University of Amsterdam.

Laura regularly presents her work at leading institutions, including Harvard, NYU, Cambridge, and the European University Institute. She is Managing Editor of the Yearbook of Antitrust and Regulatory Studies, co-coordinator of the ASCOLA (Academic Society for Competition Law) Central Europe Chapter, and a member of the International Advisory Board of the Brazilian Institute of Competition and Innovation (IBCI).
