Newton Campos
Professor Newton M. Campos, Ph.D., is an Adjunct Professor at IE University, Founding Partner of Newton Equity Partners, and Academic Director at the Search Fund Institute. With more than three decades spanning academia and industry, he has developed a distinctive profile at the intersection of Entrepreneurship, Finance and Technology, helping entrepreneurs and investors translate rigorous analysis into resilient operating performance.
Originally trained in Technology, Newton began building software solutions and tech-enabled businesses at age 15, a foundation that continues to shape his teaching and investing. He is known for connecting modern tools, from analytics to AI-enabled decision support, with the realities of traditional businesses, showing how applied technology can accelerate operational excellence, customer insight, and scalable processes while maintaining disciplined cash flow.
After years working in Finance, he expanded his academic trajectory through research and teaching focused on Entrepreneurship under real-world constraints, especially in emerging-economy contexts and environments marked by institutional volatility. This perspective informs his approach to ESG not only as compliance requirement but as a practical lever for risk management, organizational resilience, and long-term value creation in SMEs.
His global outlook has been shaped by living and working across multiple continents and by designing and leading Entrepreneurship programs for organizations such as Google, Meta, EY, and Embraer, alongside development-linked initiatives including the Guinea-Bissau Entrepreneurship Program for the World Bank and work on the impact of aging in Entrepreneurship for the IDB (Inter-American Development Bank).
Newton holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration (FGV EAESP, Brazil), an International MBA (IE Business School, Spain) with additional studies at IIM Calcutta (India), and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting (PUC-SP, Brazil). He has received multiple Teaching Excellence Awards at IE and FGV EAESP over the past 15 years.
