Eva Lecapitaine- Student Story Bachelor in Business Administration | IE University

Eva Lecapitaine

About me

I grew up in a small town in Normandy with my family. At the age of 16, I took a gap year and traveled to Chicago where I lived with an American family. I began my academic career in France, and later moved to Madrid to join IE University. I love being active, and I can spend hours wandering around and exploring Madrid’s unique neighborhoods. Music runs in my family—I play the cello and sing, while my father plays the piano and my brother plays the saxophone. We enjoy playing together, and are learning how to best accompany each other’s instruments.

Embracing every opportunity to grow

Eva chose IE University for its endless international opportunities, its fantastic faculty and the campus’ location in lively Madrid. When it came to her degree, Eva knew she wanted to pursue a program that opened a range of doors for her around the world.

From the campus to the teachers and the city, Eva has enjoyed every aspect of her journey at IE University so far. The city was unfamiliar to her before, and she has quickly fallen in love with its picturesque plazas. She has made lifelong friends, worked with amazing teachers and made so many memories. Eva was particularly impressed with how well the university managed the COVID-19 crisis. It was able to quickly transition to online teaching, and later to the Liquid Learning model. The quality of the teaching during this time was well above her expectations, and she is very thankful to the university for all it has done to ensure students can continue to learn and go to campus.

Outside of her studies, Eva joined the improv and music club. She really enjoys improv, and was pleased that the organizers were able to move the sessions online so that the club could continue this semester. In addition to being a lot of fun, being an improv member has helped Eva with her public speaking abilities, which she is grateful for.

Eva is also a member of the consulting club, which also continued during the pandemic. The club offers fantastic resources for discovering the world of consulting and helps students prepare for their interviews. In fact, it encouraged Eva to pursue a career in consulting! Last semester she was fortunate to spend time as a consultant for 180 Degrees Consulting, the world’s largest consultancy for NGOs and social enterprises. During this experience, Eva worked closely with her amazing team to help Ismur, an organization from Segovia that promotes the social and professional integration of women in rural areas.

With so many wonderful opportunities for students, Eva has been impressed by the range of career resources on offer at IE University. When deciding on her career path, Eva met the inspiring advisors at the Talent & Careers Department, who took the time to help her write a great resume and offered invaluable, specific and actionable advice for her career. Eva was also fortunate to take part in a range of networking opportunities where she met professionals from different industries, further enhancing her career trajectory.

Looking to the future, Eva would like to pursue a career in consultancy after studying. She is currently working as an intern in sales finance at Kraft Heinz in Amsterdam. So far, it has been a fantastic experience and she has already learned a lot.
