Cambridge University Press & Assessment and IE University strengthen academic collaboration for A Level students

This agreement reinforces the shared commitment of both institutions to provide students with the skills and mindset required for the future of work.

Cambridge University Press & Assessment and IE University in Madrid, Spain, have signed an agreement to advance academic collaboration and identify joint opportunities in the areas of education, research, and English language learning. As part of this agreement, both institutions will explore the development of an innovative entrepreneurship course designed by IE University to complement the Cambridge International A Level offering, integrating university-level entrepreneurial learning to strengthen students’ academic experience and readiness for higher education.

In addition, the collaboration will also explore the design of an executive training program for secondary school principals, as well as the delivery of Cambridge English tests, particularly Cambridge’s Linguaskill test, alongside the adoption of Cambridge English learning materials.

This agreement reinforces the shared commitment of Cambridge University Press & Assessment and IE University to provide students with the skills and mindset required for the future of work. In 2024/25, for example, almost 454,000 students in 3,679 schools in 136 countries sat Cambridge International AS & A Level exams.

Peter Phillips, Chief Executive of Cambridge University Press & Assessment, said: "This collaboration reflects a shared understanding that preparation for higher education begins well before students arrive at university. Our partnership with IE University will help ensure that students develop the knowledge and skills to thrive at university and beyond."

"This collaboration reflects a shared belief in education as a driver of opportunity and societal progress," said Manuel Muñiz, Rector of IE University. “By integrating entrepreneurship and university-level learning into the Cambridge International A Level pathway, we strengthen the bridge between secondary and higher education, equipping students with the mindset, skills, and global outlook needed to create impact in a rapidly changing world.”

Group Managing Director of International Education at Cambridge, Rod Smith, stated: "Through our partnership with IE University on this exciting new entrepreneurship course, students will benefit from a rich and structured learning experience that extends the curriculum. The course will offer deeper subject knowledge, increased intellectual challenge, and opportunities for students to develop strong disciplinary understanding. By engaging with real-world entrepreneurial thinking and global perspectives, students are encouraged to stretch their thinking, explore new ideas, and build confidence in applying their learning beyond the classroom."

And Miguel Costa, Dean of Admissions & Outreach at IE University, added: "Through this initiative, we will potentially impact over 450,000 students taking Cambridge International AS & A Level exams every year globally. This Entrepreneurship course is designed to build an entrepreneurial mindset as a durable skill, equipping students with real problem-solving capabilities, critical thinking, responsible action, and the ability to create value in an uncertain and rapidly changing world, with a lasting impact on their lives and professional careers."
