BECOME A GLOBAL LAWYER AT IEU

With this track, you will study all four years of your Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) at IE University. You will spend the three first years building a foundation in law, preparing yourself to become a global lawyer through the comparative law methodology, before selecting among exchange, doing an internship or choosing the electives that suit you best in your fourth year.

SPECIALIZE ON SPANISH BUSINESS LAW AT IEU

After the third year, and with solid foundations and legal knowledge now in place, it’s time to focus on the finer details of Spanish law. During your fourth year, you will learn to master the general principles of Spanish law and learn Spanish legislation and case law in depth. You will be prepared to take the public examinations to practice law in Spain.

    This official concentration is particularly interesting for those students who want to practice law in Spain and would like to gain a deeper understanding of the Spanish legal system.

    This course, consisting of 36 ECTS taken during the 3rd and 4th year of the LL.B, builds on the base of knowledge students have gained in comparative law in-line with the basic requirements of the LLB. It will help students to:

    • Master the general principles of Spanish Law
    • Focus on Spanish legislation and jurisprudence
    • Familiarize with Spanish Law terminology

    If you want to practice law in Spain and start a successful career you must pass the qualifying  Master program to obtain an official University Master’s degree (60 ECTS credits) and carry out a supervised external internship-training period (30 ECTS credits). With the Double Masters of Access to the Legal Profession at IE Law School, in 15 months you will be prepared to successfully pass the evaluation to access the legal profession, while you specialize with one of our prestigious LL.M.’s and have professional practices in the most recognized law firms, consulting firms and in-house departments.

DUAL PROGRAM WITH KING'S COLLEGE LONDON

If you are interested in studying and practicing law in the United Kingdom, take part in the Dual Bachelor of Laws/Master in Laws (LL.M.) with King’s College London. In this track, you will study the LL.B. at IE University for the first three years and move to London to study an LLM at KCL for your fourth year. Upon completion, you will graduate with an LL.B. diploma from IE University and an LL.M from King’s College London. This pioneering program meets the growing demand for cross-border legal professionals who, after a solid legal foundation at IE University, seek to gain a deep understanding of the UK legal system and have the opportunity to practice law in the UK.

    Under this unique program, once completed the first three years of the LL.B at IE University, students on their last year will have the opportunity to study the prestigious Master of Laws program (LLM) from King’s College London. Upon completion students will receive the LL.B degree from IE University and an LL.M from King’s College London, making this a very attractive program for candidates who wish to practice law internationally.

    This joint program will allow students to complement their comparative law studies with advanced international courses as well as preparing them for the legal profession by enhancing their legal skills and the possibility to network with recent law graduates and lawyers from all around the world.

    Dual Program with King´s College London

    Students will gain the solid legal foundations of international and comparative law, with a particular understanding of the UK legal system, and the required qualifications to practice law in both legal systems: the UK and Spain.

    To qualify to practice law in the UK, graduated students will need to prepare and pass the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE).

    The LLB and the LLM programs are highly respected academic qualifications recognized throughout the world that will set the students apart in the legal job market.

DUAL PROGRAMS WITH NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY

If you are interested in studying and practicing law in the United States, the Dual Bachelor of Laws/Master of Laws or JD with Northwestern Pritzker School of Law is the best career path. In this track, you will study the LL.B. at IE University for the first three years and then move to Northwestern University where you will choose to either study an LL.M. during your last year or a J.D, which you would complete during your fourth and fifth year.

The LL.B. at IE University/LL.M. or J.D. at Northwestern University will help you build an outstanding profile when entering the legal job market. These advanced programs meet the growing demand for flexible legal professionals, giving students a deep understanding of different legal systems and, in particular, of the U.S. legal system.

    The Dual Bachelor of Laws at IE / LL.M. or J.D. at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law is designed for candidates who wish to practice law internationally. Students with a solid foundation of International Law will enhance their knowledge of U.S. law with an LL.M. degree or J.D. from this prestigious partner university.

    Both dual programs will help you build an outstanding profile when entering the legal job market and are designed for those seeking two highly recognized legal degrees to practice law in two different jurisdictions: the U.S. and Spain.

    • J.D. at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law. Students who are admitted to the two-year JD program for foreign-educated attorneys receive one year of credit for their foreign law degree. Two-Year JD students exclusively complete the 1L curriculum required for JD students during their first year. The second-year is spent taking elective courses to satisfy remaining requirements. Two-Year JD students are completely integrated with students in our regular JD program. Graduates of the Two-Year JD program receive a Juris Doctor degree from Northwestern Law.

    Dual Programs with Northwestern University

    Students who complete their LL.B./LL.M will have completed the educational requirements set to sit at several state Bar Examinations, including New York and California*.

    Students who complete their  LL.B/J.D. have the opportunity of applying to all state Bar Examinations*  in order to practice law in the U.S.

DUAL PROGRAM WITH ITAM

Students that undertake the Dual Bachelor of Laws at IE / Licenciatura en Derecho from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomico de México (ITAM), will gain both degrees certified by Spain and Mexico.

This joint Bachelor of Laws trains students to become a lawyer who understands different legal systems so that they can practice their profession in Spain and Mexico and understand law from a global and business perspective.

    During the first three years, you will study the LL.B. at IE, where you will gain a deep understanding of international and comparative law. For the final two years, you will move to ITAM in Mexico where you will have 139 credits and be rained to master the Mexican legal system.  By studying this dual degree you will gain exposure to two legal systems with the opportunity to develop knowledge and understanding of a number of areas of the law involved in the Spanish and Mexican legal systems.

    On successful completion of the course you will be awarded with an LLB from IE University and a Licenciatura en Derecho from Instituto Tecnológico Autonómico de México (ITAM).

    After students complete their LL.B. / Licenciatura, they will have completed the educational requirements set to practice law in Mexico.

PRACTICE LAW IN INDIA

Open exclusively to Indian nationals, this program transforms students into global law professionals and business strategists and opens the door to becoming a lawyer in India.

After successfully completing the LL.B. and LL.M. programs at IE University, you will be allowed to enroll with the State Bar Council of India and take All India Bar Examinations (AIBE): LL.B. + LL.M. + AIBE.
