Dr. Montero has taught at the Universities of Granada, Santiago, Zaragoza, Cádiz, and Complutense de Madrid, as well as at the Center for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences, Juan March Institute in Madrid. He has been Dean of the School of Law at the Universidad of Cádiz; Deputy Director of the Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas (CIS); Director of the Economics and Social Science Program, Ministry of Education; Vice-President of the Spanish Association of Political Science; a member of the Standing Committee for the Social Sciences, European Science Foundation. He is a member of the Academia Europeae, Comparative National Elections Project, and Scientific Advisory Board of the European Social Survey. Dr. Montero is professor of Political Science at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, and Chair of the Department of Political Science and International Relations. He has been Visiting Fellow at Harvard University, the University of California at Berkeley, and Ohio State University. He has published extensively on electoral behavior, political parties, political culture, and political participation. Dr. Montero’s research interests include the empirical study of democracy with special attention to voting behavior, voting systems, political parties, and participation in politics.
