Mariano Álvarez Diente

Mariano Álvarez has extensive professional experience in the IT industry, where he has taken on roles throughout the project lifecycle, from conceptualization and design to delivery. His regular collaboration as an instructor at IBM, together with many years of teaching at IE University and IE Business School, have provided him with extensive experience in the field of education. To date, Professor Álvarez has complemented his teaching activities with responsibilities in various telecommunications projects for the public and private sectors and has given lectures for institutions such as the CNP (National Police Force) and the University of Valladolid. As a consultant, his main focus has been on initiatives in the areas of digital transformation, the Internet of Things, advanced data analysis (Big Data), mobile networks, and network deployment, as well as teaching subjects such as Technology, Programming, Mathematics, and Statistics at the university. This has allowed him to acquire the depth and breadth of knowledge necessary to stay up to date from a practical perspective as well. In addition to his education as a telecommunications engineer, he also has a background in the humanities, and in his classes, he always tries to emphasize the importance of focusing on technology as a facilitator of social and human evolution. In his opinion, technology is only useful if human beings can thrive through it. Professor Álvarez always encourages students to explore the uses of technology in the development and expansion of niche markets for entrepreneurship, while maintaining the well-being of our modern society and the right to our individual freedom.
