Pablo Marco Blanco

Pablo Marco is the Associate Vice Dean at the IE School of Politics, Economics & Global Affairs, where he is responsible for academic quality, innovation, and new program development.

He also serves as Academic Director of the Master in Technology and Global Affairs and the Master in International Development, and teaches courses on Negotiation, Leadership, International Development, and Technology Governance.

 Before entering academia, Pablo worked for more than 20 years in the fields of international development and technology.

 In international development, he led some of Médecins Sans Frontières’ largest humanitarian operations of the past decade. He served as Country Director in over a dozen countries, including Yemen, Haiti, the Central African Republic, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. From 2014 to 2017, he was Regional Director for the Middle East, overseeing Médecins Sans Frontières teams working in the conflicts in Syria, Yemen, Iraq, and neighboring countries. He managed a team of more than 1,000 professionals with an annual budget of €38 million. Nature journal featured his team’s pioneering work on data science in humanitarian aid. Pablo also served as a member of the Board of Directors of Médecins Sans Frontières Spain.

 In the technology sector, Pablo worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company and later founded and managed two technology startups. In 2005, he founded Iguana Sell, one of Spain’s first e-commerce companies. In 2019, he founded Fáktica Analytics, a data science startup focused on automating and improving digital marketing campaigns.

 Pablo holds a Master in Public Administration (MPA-MC) from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government (2013). He also holds a double Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Mining Engineering from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and the École des Mines de Paris (1998).
