Ying Lu

Ying is an Assistant Professor at IE University, where his research critically investigates how fast-evolving technologies—such as AI, search engines, and decentralized platforms—reshape societal structures, economic power, and institutional trust. He positions himself not only as an empirical researcher but also as a technology critic and solution proposer. His work aims to uncover both the hidden costs and transformative potentials of technological change, especially in contexts where governance, trust, or policy frameworks are still catching up. His current research spans a range of critical issues, including the ethical challenges of high-tech development, AI-driven labor market transformations, DAO governance, and collaborative misalignment in online platforms.

His work has been presented at leading Information Systems journals and conferences, such as Management Science (MS), Government Information Quarterly (GIQ), International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), Conference on Information Systems and Technology (CIST). Ying serves as reviewer for leading information system journals such as including Decision Support Systems (DSS), Information & Management (I&M), and ACM Transactions on Management Information Systems (TMIS). In teaching, Ying combines qualitative instruction in "Business-Driven Information Technology", with analytical training in course such as "Data Management for Business Analytics". His teaching equips students to not only analyze data effectively but also critically evaluate and design emerging digital technologies.
