Anselme Charleslouis Tiquet
I’m currently in my fourth and last year of the Bachelor in International Relations at IE University. I recently had the opportunity to travel to Tokyo, where I have just completed my exchange semester abroad. I always wanted to participate in the university’s exchange program because it allows you to study in another cultural environment and experience a different teaching methodology, all while traveling to new locales. For me, it was a chance to expand my skill set, reflect on my ambitions from a unique perspective and add value to my professional profile.

Embarking on an international adventure
Anselme Charleslouis Ticquet has recently returned from his exchange semester at Hitosubashi University in Tokyo, Japan, having enriched his Bachelor in International Relations with economics, the social sciences and a uniquely global outlook. And while he thoroughly enjoyed the chance to experience a cultural environment different from his own, he also gained a new appreciation for being a part of the IE Community.
Anselme reveals that what he missed most while abroad was IE University's outstanding facilities and resources. He realized just how privileged he was to attend such a holistic institution, discovering how rare an opportunity it is to learn from professors who are also seasoned practitioners in their fields. Anselme found that other renowned universities tend to prioritize academics and the research produced by their faculty, but he believes equipping students to be future professionals and leaders is equally important.
Before Anselme embarked on his international adventure, IE University provided a list of its global partner universities, their requirements and their specialisms—all in an effort to help him make an informed decision. He also turned to his career advisor to define his priorities, including the location, academics, culture and even language. Additionally, his academic advisor helped him navigate the important details associated with planning an exchange semester abroad. From IE University to Tokyo, Anselme received invaluable guidance and support every step of the way.
Anselme advises students to take advantage of the opportunities IE University offers. As he sees it, attending other institutions around the world is a unique opportunity to tailor your future—no matter what your motivations are for going on exchange. Through his experiences abroad, Anselme is now able to look at his future through a new lens.
