Beltrán García-Hinojal y Haya

About me

My name is Beltrán García-Hinojal y Haya. I am from Santander, a city in northern Spain, but I live in Madrid. I’m someone who never stays still—studying a dual degree while also serving as a town councilor in Madrid and as the founder and president of the organization ProJovenes. A truly global person, I lived in the UK for five years prior to enrolling at IE University, and right now I’m studying abroad in China for the semester. I enjoy road trips and filmography and have a great sense of humor. Jokes aside, remember my name because one day I’ll be the President of Spain.

"At IE University I have learned from great experts and have made some of my best friends. What else could I ask for?"

Beltrán García-Hinojal y Haya

A global person with international dreams

Beltrán García-Hinojal y Haya told us that one of his life goals is to become the President of Spain. And we believe him, especially as his career in politics started at a young age. At just 19 years old, he was elected as town councilor in Navas del Rey, a town in the Community of Madrid. But Beltrán’s passions run far and wide and are not constrained to politics, which is why he decided to study the Dual Degree in Business Administration + International Relations at IE University.

Considering himself to be a truly global person, Beltrán knew that IE University was the perfect fit for his studies—and he’s never looked back. The opportunity to combine his passion for business and international relations was the initial pull, but the incredible networking possibilities, expert faculty and diverse cohort has made the experience that much better.

What’s more, IE University has given Beltrán the tools necessary to transition confidently into the world of work. This shift can be overwhelming for students who are nearing graduation, and Beltrán credits IE University for making it an easier one. He took advantage of the many tools available, like having the chance to chat with a professor or the opportunity to apply to internships advertised by the IE Talent & Careers team.Beltrán has kept himself busy throughout his studies. His hobbies include fencing, sailing, reading and writing, but as president and founder of ProJovenes—an organization that helps to combat youth unemployment in Spain—and a member of the Navas del Rey Town Council, his personal hobbies get placed on the back burner to his other passions. He’s also participated in a number of internships, working as a summer researcher at the United Nations, as a wealth management trainee at Deutsche Bank and as a finance intern at an architecture and urbanism studio.

When looking toward the near future, Beltrán plans on finding a job in finance right after graduation, as he feels it’s his calling. But he also has bigger goals on the horizon, and with his newly acquired skill set, he’s well on his way to reaching them.

Beltrán’s dedication and drive comes from his desire to give back. When it comes to life in general, he believes that we should follow three simple instructions, “Be brave. Be kind. Be funny.” And in doing so, we can make the world a better place.
