Carlos Vergara

About me

I am from La Paz, Bolivia and have been on exchange programs in Germany and the USA, but Madrid is my first experience living abroad for a longer period. I’ve always liked to be involved in sports, but currently I’ve gotten into running and CrossFit. Apart from that, I like reading in general, make the most out of the time with my family, take a couple of hours a day to hang out with my friends, and whenever there’s an opportunity, travel to a new place. I have participated in some events and seminars regarding different current affairs organized by the university, clubs and societies at IE. Also, I enrolled to a new language course, and signed up for the Debate Club where learned a lot about research and argumentation, besides improving my oratory.

"Go forward with an open mind, rather than planning every step of the way."

Carlos Vergara

Carlos is a second year, Bachelor of Laws student who has learned how to embrace change in a constantly changing world – one of his key takeaways has been to have an open mind towards changes in the future and the way law will eventually adapt to these. After graduation, he is interested in completing a master’s degree to become a lawyer in Spain; however, he has an open mind and is for new opportunities that may arise.

Carlos’s interview is part of the Faces of IEU project, with seeks to bring closer together the IE community by sharing stories of students about their experience at the university, professionally, and about themselves. Through a series of interviews, students are able to share, explore and learn about opportunities that make IE University and its community truly unique.
