Diego Cavestany
I’m from Madrid, Spain and am in my final year of the Dual Degree in Business Administration and Laws program at IE University. I’ve spent most of my life in Madrid, but when I was in high school, I lived and studied in the UK for a year. In 2019, I went to the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles as an exchange student, which was one of my favorite IE University experiences to date. I’m passionate about startups and the world of technology, and am also incredibly interested in cloud computing and the wide variety of solutions it provides to firms of all sizes. Outside of my professional interests, I like to travel and play sports, but my true passion is spending time with the people I love.

Driving change by leading with passion
Diego was drawn to IE University because of its diverse international environment and incredible commitment to fostering innovation. The Dual Degree in Business Administration and Laws has enabled Diego to gain strong business skills, while simultaneously developing his critical thinking and legal knowledge. This leads him to believe that the program is a perfect fit for any student looking to dive into both areas.
The consistently increasing digital presence on campus, combined with the frequent development of programs that mix business with technology, are a large part of what excites Diego about studying at IE University. This excitement also informs the advice he has for future IE University graduates—to leverage the opportunities that IE University gives them to become part of a tech-related industry or company. He also emphasizes that professional growth potential is higher when their chosen field is somehow linked to the digital world.
Each day on IE University’s innovative campus brings a new experience for Diego. Learning from exceptional professionals, discovering a community full of talented individuals, developing a powerful network and taking advantage of the vast number of resources at hand have been some of the contributing factors to his time at university. Additionally, Diego has felt incredibly supported by IE University’s Talent & Careers team, especially when looking for internship opportunities, assistance on his CV and through mock interviews. The events, fairs and collaborations with other universities set IE University apart for Diego, and have provided him with invaluable experiences.
Eager to continue building on this passion for technology, Diego’s second work experience took place at Amazon Web Services (AWS) during the summer of 2020, where he was a commercial sales intern. AWS gave him the opportunity to work on an exciting cross-company project that helped him understand the business side of several Amazon departments, dive deeper into cloud computing and officially become AWS Certified. As a result of his hard work, Diego recently accepted a return offer from AWS as a Demand Generation Graduate starting in October 2021. Thrilled to return to AWS, Diego feels fortunate to be able to learn and grow in the field he is most passionate about.
Until he begins his new role, Diego is acting as an Amazon Campus Ambassador. He promotes open positions at Amazon and shares his personal experiences at Amazon via social media. He is looking forward to graduating from IE University and starting his next adventure. Diego tries to live by the motto: “Remember your all-time dreams, commit fully to make them happen, and never regret trying.” It’s clear he has committed to his passion, and we can’t wait to see what he’ll do in the future.
