My name is Francisco III Alba de los Reyes. I’m a fourth-year Data & Business Analytics at IE University. Hailing from Manila, Philippines, I’ve embraced the international community here, balancing my passion for data with a love for music, sports and making friends from all over the world. Being part of IE University’s international community has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my university experience.

Building data skills and global connections
Francisco III Alba de los Reyes is in his final year at IE University, pursuing a Bachelor in Data & Business Analytics. From big city life in Manila to the historic streets of Segovia, his journey at IE University has been characterized by cultural immersion and a strong sense of community. As someone who enjoys both intellectual challenges and social interactions, Francisco has managed to integrate his love for technology and data with his passion for meeting like-minded individuals.
The transition from a fast-paced metropolis like Manila to Segovia’s peaceful atmosphere initially posed a challenge. However, the close-knit community at IE University made the transition smoother, and he quickly felt at home. In this diverse, open environment, he could connect with people from varied backgrounds and build relationships that have enriched his personal and professional life.
Francisco’s enthusiasm for technology and data analytics extends beyond the classroom. He’s an active member of several student organizations, including the Philippines Club and tech-focused groups like the Google Developer Student Club (GDSC), Coding Club, Data Club and TechIE. These extracurricular activities have provided invaluable opportunities to expand his knowledge and network with like-minded individuals. “There's always something new to learn, and I've met some incredible people who share my passion for technology,” he says.
The Bachelor in Data & Business Analytics has equipped Francisco with a solid foundation in data manipulation and programming. Courses such as Algorithms and Data Structures, Big Data Technology and Operating Systems & Parallel Computing have been particularly impactful, giving him practical skills that he believes will be instrumental throughout his career in the tech industry.
IE University’s emphasis on career development has also played a crucial role in Francisco’s academic journey. Thanks to the networking events and career workshops hosted by the university, he has already secured his first internship, a significant milestone in his path toward a career in tech.
For prospective IE University students, Francisco advises making the most of the opportunities available. “Being part of such a unique and diverse community is a privilege.
