Experts from the Prado Museum, Guggenheim Bilbao, Art Basel and MMMAD Festival launch IE University's Arts & Humanities Week
IE School of Humanities organizes a week of cultural activities, workshops and events to celebrate the arts and humanities.
IE University is celebrating Arts & Humanities Week 2024. This week will see IE School of Humanities, Campus Life and the IE Foundation, celebrate the humanities through cultural activities, workshops and events that will help students enhance their critical thinking and anticipate a future marked by technological innovation.
The launch of Arts & Humanities Week 2024 will feature a panel on the past, present and future of art, with the participation of Alejandro Vergara, Head of Conservation of Flemish Painting at the Museo del Prado; Manuel Cirauqui, Curator at the Museo Guggenheim Bilbao; and Icíar Sánchez-Mangas, Director of Development at Art Basel and Associate Professor at IE University. In addition, Natalia Stuyk will premiere a digital artwork as part of the MMMAD Festival Urbano de Arte Digital de Madrid.
Theodore Lechterman, Professor of Philosophy at IE University and Director of the UNESCO Chair on Ethics and Governance of Artificial Intelligence at IE School of Humanities, will give a master class on The Ethics of Killer Robots at the TechIE conference organized by IE University students to discuss trends and opportunities for technological development. Lechterman will reflect on whether societies should delegate vitally important decisions to AI.
Throughout the week, IE University students from 160 countries will participate in workshops and initiatives in various humanities disciplines such as art, music, literature and theater. This will include visits to institutions such as the Fundación Ortega-Marañón, the Teatro de la Zarzuela, the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía, the Sorolla Museum and Collegium. In addition, the IE Antiquity & Middle Ages Research Center has organized a visit to Sepúlveda (Segovia), and the IE Language Center will hold a workshop on Chinese calligraphy.

IE School of Humanities promotes education and research with the aim of training leaders at the intersection of the humanities, management and technology, in order to respond to the complex challenges of the business world. IE School of Humanities will launch a Bachelor's Degree in Humanities and a double degree in Business Administration and Humanities in September 2024, both 100% in English and with UNESCO as an academic partner.
