IE School of Architecture and Cambridge University-IDB are the only European schools of architecture represented in the U.S. publication

IE School of Architecture and Design has appeared for the second consecutive year in the ranking of the prestigious U.S. journal Design Intelligence as a global focal point in the teaching of architecture, with an innovative education model and high levels of motivation in a high-tech learning environment.

The magazine, which publishes an annual ranking of the most prestigious Schools of Architecture and Design in the US, has once again included a section featuring schools that do not form part of the ranking but offer an excellent education model. Design Intelligence ranks IE University and its School of Architecture in the category "Unexpected Options", along with five other major institutions: Boston Architectural College, Cambridge University-IDB, Tulane University, University of Puerto Rico and Virginia Commonwealth University. This recognition further consolidates the positioning of IE School of Architecture and Design on the international stage, only four years after it was created.

Editor James Russell highlights IE School of Architecture and describes its close association with IE Business School, "one of the top business schools in the world", stating that its global education system is a differentiating factor, and that it strengthens the professional skills of future architects. The magazine underscores the fact that it is located in a former convent that offers cutting edge technology and a truly inspiring environment for students and teachers. Another of the strengths of IE School Architecture and Design, according to Design Intelligence, is that the main language of instruction is English.

The IE University Degree in Architecture achieved first place in the category Hidden Gems in Global Architecture Education in the 2010 ranking due to its innovative approach, creativity and overall commitment. Thus IE University became the first university in continental Europe to appear in this ranking, a position it still holds.

Design Intelligence is the bi-monthly magazine of the Design Futures Council (DFC), a think tank in Washington DC, whose board includes representatives from design firms, schools and leading manufacturers in the United States. Since 1999 it has published a ranking of the best U.S. Architecture Schools every fall, providing a reference tool for students who are in the process of selecting a university to pursue a career in Architecture and Design. The ranking has enjoyed international recognition since 2010.
