On November 8th IE University will host the "Conference on Amphibian Conservation in Castilla y León", this activity is part of the Asociación Cheloni´s project "Amphibian Biodiversity and Climate Change in  Castilla y León", awarded with a national award for the Environment 2010 by Caja España.

The conference will feature the participation of leading specialists in the study and conservation of amphibians in Spain, such as Jaime Bosch, staff scientist at the National Museum of Natural Sciences in Madrid, who will explain in details the monitoring program of Peñalara amphibians and the latest advances in the fight against diseases for these beings. Ernesto Recuero is also taking part of the conference – he is a researcher at the National Museum of Natural Sciences and will announce the amphibian diversity patterns from the viewpoint of the molecular studies.

From IE University, María José Sanz Director of the biology degrees and Professor profesor Manuel Merchán will expose the involvement of  academic institutions and Asociación Chelonia in conserving the biodiversity in Spain by developing joint projects, result of an academic and scientific collaboration agreement between the two entities. The agreement contemplates the possibility of IE University students participating in environmental conservation projects of this association, especially with protected species in Spain and in several countries of tropical America.

The event will take place in the Sala Capitular of the campus of Santa Cruz La Real, at 2 Cardenal Zúñiga Str, Segovia.
