IE University celebrates Earth Month this April with the aim of protecting biodiversity, fostering sustainability and promoting innovation in environmental management. In the run up to Earth Day on April 22, the academic institution will be promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly practices across its academic ecosystem of students, professors and staff from 160 countries.

Among other activities, members of the IE Community will be able to participate in Campus Bloom for Our Pollinators, a day in which they will plant a microforest, creating a habitat for bees and butterflies, essential for promoting biodiversity and ecological renewal. This initiative seeks to create green spaces on the IE Tower campus in Madrid that contribute to improving the wider environment.

In addition, the Earth Day Cleanup & Climbing Event will combine sustainability with sport. The day will begin with litter collection around the Segovia campus and the IE Creativity Center, followed by a hiking route and a climbing session.

"This Earth Month, we’re turning commitment into action. From campus initiatives and student-led projects to thought leadership through the Sustainability Hub, Earth Month will turn everyday efforts into action for our planet".
Nicole Rosow, IE University’s Sustainability Director

As part of Earth Month, an Agroforestry  workshop will be held to explore how sustainable agriculture can help restore ecosystems, while the Sustainable Coffee Talk will bring together experts to discuss the environmental impact of coffee and sustainable cultivation. There will also be an exhibition of books and recommendations on sustainability, Mindfulness in Nature sessions  to reconnect with the environment through guided meditation in the open air, as well as a meeting with Nacho Dean, an explorer who has travelled the world on foot promoting conservation.
