President of the European Parliament urges young students to participate in political life during her visit at IE University
Roberta Metsola visited IE University in an event attended by 300 students.

Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament, participated in a townhall discussion organized with students on January 27 at IE University.

The event was attended by 300 hundreds national and international students from local high-schools and universities, as well as young representatives from the Spanish association ONCE, which provides supports to the visually impaired and disabled people.

Hosted at the IE Tower, the vertical and innovative campus of IE University, the event was an occasion for the youth to discuss with the President a variety of topics including inclusion, international mobility, green transition, digital growth, professional opportunities, and others.

Sharing a message of faith in democracy, President Metsola also urged young Spaniards to participate in political life, by voting in the upcoming 2024 European elections, and by running themselves for public office in the future. “I would like you to seat at the European Parliament”, she said.

Manuel Muñiz, Provost of IE University, in his welcome words to the students, highlighted: “You don’t often get the chance to have your questions answered by the President of the legislative arm of the European Union. Seize it.”

Metsola’s participation in the townhall discussion at IE University took place during her first official visit to Madrid, where she met with His Majesty the King of Spain, the Prime Minister, and high-level governmental and city officials.
