South Summit Launches New Vertical on Sustainability and Climate in the Brazilian Amazon

South Summit Climate & Bioeconomy Brazil Amazonia will take place on July 15 and 16 in the Brazilian city of Belém, at the edge of the Amazon rainforest.

Following the success of the fourth edition of South Summit in Rio Grande do Sul, South Summit will launch its new vertical South Summit Climate & Bioeconomy Brazil Amazonia, a gathering co-organized by IE University that will address, within the framework of sustainability and climate change, the challenges and future of energy transition, carbon emissions, the circular economy, impact entrepreneurship, and ESG criteria.

This new vertical will be held on July 15 and 16 in the Brazilian city of Belém, at the edge of the Amazon rainforest, It is expected to become one of the key events in the agenda of responsible and sustainable entrepreneurship. South Summit Climate & Bioeconomy Brazil Amazonia will take place in the context of the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), scheduled from November 10 to 21, also in Belém.

The Amazon, one of the planet's greatest natural treasures, plays a strategic and essential role in the global economy and in sustainability. With enormous potential for social, economic, and sustainable development, the region will become the stage for a special edition of South Summit Brazil whose goal is to foster high-impact connections, energize the local innovation ecosystem, and position Belém and the Amazon at the heart of solutions to major global challenges.

María Benjumea, president and founder of South Summit, emphasized the success of the fourth edition of South Summit Brazil, stating that "with the governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite, and his entire government leading the way, it has shown that the only way to face crises and adversity is through the unity of all stakeholders." Meanwhile, Keynes Lemos da Silva, Deputy Secretary of Science, Technology, and Higher, Professional, and Technological Education of the State of Pará, expressed strong support for the celebration of South Summit Climate & Bioeconomy Brazil Amazonia in his region. "Bringing this event to the Amazon is a recognition of our territory’s key role in global discussions on sustainable development, bioeconomy, and climate justice. It is an opportunity to place us at the center of decisions that will shape the coming years," he emphasized.

With this new event in Belém, South Summit expands its global network of gatherings and reinforces its role as a leading platform for innovative entrepreneurship with positive impact. Additionally, this vertical marks the first themed event that South Summit is hosting in Brazil, whose main edition remains South Summit Brazil in Porto Alegre. Firmly established as a global meeting point for investors, corporations, and entrepreneurs, the event will celebrate its fifth edition in the capital of the state of Rio Grande do Sul on March 25, 26 and 27, 2026, co-organized by IE University and the Government of Rio Grande do Sul.
