Startup Cacaok´an receives first prize at Venture Day Madrid 2024

This event is the final of a competition of more than 100 startups being developed in the IE Venture Lab.

IE University has held a new edition of IE Venture Day Madrid, the annual event that rewards the best entrepreneurship students and alumni of IE University. Cacaok'an, a startup offering healthy snacks made exclusively with 100% Tabasco cacao with no preservatives, emerged as the winner. The jury, comprising international entrepreneurs and investors, selected Cacaok'an for this prestigious recognition.

The second prize went to Karefull, a medtech startup on a mission to transform healthcare experiences in Europe with a digital medical passport, and the third to Alumnco, a platform that makes easier for international students across the world to start their next chapter. Alga.E, which aims to transform sargassum into a valuable resource, promoting a circular economy within the hospitality industry and beyond, has been awarded the Sustainability Award.

IE Venture Lab, IE University's startup incubator, reinforces the entrepreneurial character of its students and graduates. "Nearly 400 IE University students have benefited from this program, which will help them on the entrepreneurial journey they are starting, living their passion and loving what they do," said Paris de L'Etraz, Managing Director of the Venture Lab.

Olivier Pailhes, co-founder of Aircall, attended the event, and recounted his personal experience developing a 'unicorn' startup. There was also a panel with the founders of MM Angels, the investment network created by IE University alumni; and another with the winners of the Health Tech Kuwait Incubator.

IE Business School is seventh in the world in training for entrepreneurs by the Poets & Quants Ranking for Entrepreneurs 2023. In addition, the latest Bloomberg BusinessWeek ranking puts the International MBA in second position in Europe in the entrepreneurship category.

  • Crowd Favorite Startup Award: Tuki and ReformAI
