IE University organized two educational tours to discover the most significant sites of the Segovia province and the sites of Tiermes (Soria)

IE University took advantage of the 2009 Science Week to revisit some key sites of Segovia´s natural heritage, with a specific botanical, fauna and geological overview. There were more that fifty participants to the expedition to the Sierra de Guadarrama, a line of mountains in the eastern part of the “Sistema Central” – that goes from the Ayllon chain to the Sierra de Gredos – a surface of 200,000 hectares.

Under the supervision of a group of professors from IE´s School of Biology – Pablo Tejedo, María José Sanz and Vicente Fuencisla – participants made several stops in specific zones, like the Port of Navafría, the Sabinar de Prádena or the Hoces del Río Duratón. They had the opportunity to find the relations between geology and geomorphology, flora and fauna, confronting them with the relation there is between humans and their usage of the environment.
