Bachelor in Fashion Design

How do we make the things around us? Why do we make them in that way? What would happen if we used different tools or materials? We believe that these questions drive the design process, and that fashion depends on a knowing what to make and how to make it. We mix new technologies with legacy crafts and materials to prepare our students to innovate and to build on the knowledge of the past.

The fashion and apparel industry is expected to generate approximately $1.7 trillion in revenue this year, providing employment (direct and indirect) for approximately 300 million people. This enormous economic impact is accompanied by a similarly enormous environmental and social impact: the textile and footwear industries account for 8-10% of greenhouse gas emissions, globally—more than the aviation and shipping sectors, combined. Textile dyeing and finishing is responsible for approximately 20% of global industrial wastewater production. Child labor and poor working conditions are also continuing problems in the industry. We empower you to contribute to positive change through fashion design – we believe another way is both possible and necessary.

Without a solid business plan and an understanding of the dynamics of the world of fashion business, even the best designs won’t have an impact. That’s why we embed entrepreneurship and management training in the program, both through our Fashion Business Module and in an entrepreneurial approach to teaching all aspects of design.
