An organisation, structured as a company with the spirit of a community. Raíces y Alas aims to provide raíces (roots) for integrity and alas (wings) for emancipation, to reconsider and question the current state of affairs in a society with disabilities.We always speak of the great advantages that this technological and developmental era poses. It is often referred to as the greatest era for change. But, are we really making the most of it? Are we using these opportunities to improve all lives or is it just dehumanising us?Instigated to create a sincere and sustainable change, the intention has always been to make this project a reality. Responding to social needs, looking for deficiencies and injustice in society, the objective is to deliver a solution for the disabled population in Spain.The disabled, who should be referred to as differently abled, have always been seen through a lens of pity, and retired to the medical domain, charitable societies and ́forced into a wheelchair ́. It has been a stigmatised topic, always considered a problem, instead of an opportunity for a greater good.Raíces & Alas, is a social enterprise that aims to give disabilities roots for integrity and endurance, and wings for growth and autonomy. Is an alignment of challenges and empathy of disability, working with a critical design mindset, the approach of a consultancy and the understanding of sociology.
