Frustrated by the divisive and superficial nature of social media, three IE University students decided to take a fresh approach. Despite studying different programs, they realized that they were developing complementary skills that they would need to make their vision reality. Together, they developed Share the Story—a platform that celebrates a diversity of culture and ideas in stimulating mature, respectful and enjoyable discourse.

Share the Story arose from the friendship of three university students, united in the pursuit of establishing a platform that fosters the dialogue and communication that’s lacking in our modern society. We knew students enjoy exchanging opinions about articles and academic papers, but the current superficiality of social media has led to negative consequences all over the world. Share the Story aims to counterbalance this trend by adding value to the knowledge and technological abilities of students in a new and innovative way. It values humanity and authenticity.
We set ourselves the objective of going beyond the current scope of social media by establishing intellectual standards through sophisticated content generation: debates, interviews and much more. We stimulate conversation from opposing ideas that can act as learning processes from which new beliefs can be formed.
Share the Story users are not merely passive viewers—they’re active content generators. It closes the gap between social media and the academic world. Educators can use it alongside Blackboard to initiate discussion, not only within their own class, but also inviting other international students.
