FIVE REASONS TO CHOOSE THE BACHELOR IN ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES FOR SUSTAINABILITY

01.

QUESTION THE WORLD FROM DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES

Our planet is interconnected and in constant evolution. In the Bachelor in Environmental Sciences for Sustainability, you’ll leverage science to better understand how the natural world and how unsustainable practices have deteriorated ecosystems and depleted its natural resources, impacting our economies and societies. The relation is bidirectional, and therefore needs to be approached by combining a solid in-depth scientific base with a wider view of the framework in which we operate and the different forces of change. It focuses on the links between science, society and the environment, embracing complexity and recognizing that there are no simple solutions.

02.

DISCOVER MAJOR OPPORTUNITIES FOR SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGE

Enhanced adaptive strategies are needed to reduce our exposure and vulnerability to the harmful effects of environmental challenges and increase the capacity of communities to be more resilient and cope better, this demands new skills for transformation and natural recovery. Climate change, pollution, natural resources and biodiversity loss are the grand environmental challenges of our time, and green policies such as the European Green Deal are the main drivers of change toward a greener economy built on decarbonization, resource efficiency and socially inclusive models. As this green economy grows, so does the demand for sustainability and green skills in both the public and the private sectors. In fact, the Global Green Skills Report shows that green talent in the workforce has shown a growth rate of 38.5% in the last five years. Currently, around 10% of job posts require at least one green skill, and a total of 24 million jobs are expected to be created by the green economy alone by 2030. Learn how to transform green challenges into opportunities.

03.

HAVE A REAL POSITIVE IMPACT ON THE WORLD

Today’s society is increasingly informed and aware of environmental challenges, but also increasingly confused about how to respond to those challenges effectively. The Bachelor in Environmental Sciences for Sustainability is designed in line with the reality our ecosystems, societies, and economies face today. Our goal is to provide solid scientific knowledge to thrive in a complex world.

04.

APPLY A SYSTEMIC APPROACH TO DEVELOP TRANSDISCIPLINARY SKILLS

Green skills are transdisciplinary and applicable to all sectors. There is no single “green industry”: all industries can integrate a green component. The Bachelor in Environmental Sciences for Sustainability uses a systemic approach to sustainability, empowering students to identify how environmental issues create social and economic impact and vice versa.

05.

USE SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE AND INNOVATIVE TOOLS TO TACKLE ENVIRONMENTAL CHALLENGES

The environmental challenges that we currently face require both scientific expertise and an understanding of the social and political issues at hand. Policies, regulatory frameworks, and new business models are all parts of the solution. The Bachelor in Environmental Sciences for Sustainability meets this demand by training professionals in both environmental sciences and sustainable projects, including the use of cutting-edge digital tools.

A HIGHLY DEMANDED PROFILE

To tackle the above challenges, we want to train professionals from both scientific and multidisciplinary backgrounds:

We will train professionals with solid scientific foundations, capable of applying their knowledge in academia, business, civil society organizations, or public policy.

Our project-based methodology will allow them to apply scientific knowledge to projects which address the climate crisis and other complex environmental challenges, considering all of their dimensions:

Scientific, economic and social. We will give our students the ability and knowledge to understand, analyze and evaluate an ecosystem and propose solutions that move towards recovery and restoration using transdisciplinary approaches to address major environmental global challenges.

EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING TO MASTER COMPLEXITY

Experiential Learning is the process of learning by doing. Our students will have hands-on experiences to better connect theories and knowledge to real-world environmental situations. Our students will have a field trip every semester, laboratory sessions and immersive learning experiences with multimedia material, virtual reality or video games to develop a broader view.

The variety of teaching methodologies will provide you with the skills to manage and lead multidisciplinary teams, empowering you to face future environmental challenges from a science-based and versatile position. You’ll graduate as a professional capable of designing, planning and directing tests and research to evaluate or address environmental issues.
