What kind of hands-on projects do students work on during the program?
Students work on a wide range of hands-on projects that reflect the complexities of real environmental challenges. These projects could involve anything from conducting field-based ecosystem assessments to collecting and analyzing environmental data, evaluating the impacts of human activities on natural systems, or developing nature-based and technology-enabled sustainability solutions. Can I apply theoretical sustainability knowledge to real-world corporate problems?
Yes. A core part of the program is applying theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges. Through hands-on projects, you’ll work with diverse stakeholders to analyze environmental and sustainability issues, assess impacts and develop evidence-based solutions. You may also engage with initiatives connected to our Sustainable Transition Hub, proposing practical ways organizations can integrate sustainability and ESG considerations into decision-making and innovation.

Yes. You’ll have the chance to take part in both local and international competitions that blend sustainability, innovation and technology. For example, the IE Sustainability Datathon brings together multidisciplinary teams to tackle real-world sustainability challenges proposed by organizations using data analytics and predictive modeling. This allows you to collaborate with diverse participants, strengthen analytical and problem-solving skills, and gain local and global exposure.
