Elvira Scarlat

Elvira Scarlat is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Accounting and Management Control at IE Business School. She holds a PhD in Business Administration and Quantitative Methods from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. Her research lies in the capital markets arena, with a particular focus on the interplay between corporate governance mechanisms and firms’ financial reporting practices.

Elvira’s work has been published in leading journals such as the Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Banking & Finance, Accounting and Business Research, and Finance Research Letters, and in the practitioner outlet Harvard Business Review. She serves as a reviewer for the European Accounting Review, Accounting and Business Research, the Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, among others.

Prior to joining IE University, Elvira was a research and teaching assistant in Financial Accounting at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. During her doctoral studies, she was a visiting researcher in the Accounting Department at the Kenan‑Flagler Business School, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
